About Your Teacher

Namaste, I'm Poonam Singh

I am a Professional Yoga Teacher devoted to sharing yoga the way it was handed down to me — patiently, precisely, and with deep respect for the breath.

My training is academic as well as practical: a Master of Arts in Yoga from Uttarakhand Open University, Haridwar, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga from Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit University. That grounding in yoga philosophy, anatomy and therapeutic practice is what lets me teach a posture three different ways until one of them fits you.

Yoga should meet you exactly where you are — not where a photograph says you ought to be.
  • Breath firstEvery movement begins and ends with the breath.
  • Alignment over ambitionDepth is earned slowly and safely.
  • Consistency over intensitySmall steps on the mat, big changes in life.

Qualifications

Common Questions

Yoga FAQs

The questions new students ask most often. Anything else — just ask.

Do I need to be flexible to start yoga?

No. Flexibility is a result of practising yoga, not a requirement for starting. Every posture is offered in several variations, and you are guided to the one that suits your body today.

Are the classes suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. Beginners are genuinely welcome. Hatha yoga is the recommended starting point — postures are held with steady breath and explained step by step, with no expectation of prior experience.

What are Poonam Singh's yoga qualifications?

Poonam Singh holds a Master of Arts in Yoga from Uttarakhand Open University, Haridwar (2021) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga from Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit University (2019). Both are full university programmes covering yoga philosophy, anatomy, therapeutic practice and teaching methodology. Certificates can be viewed on request.

Are classes online or in person?

Both. Live online classes run interactively with real-time corrections and are open to students anywhere in the world. Offline small-group batches and one-to-one sessions are also available, including corporate groups.

What should I wear and what do I need to bring?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move and breathe in. Bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water, and practise barefoot where possible. For online classes you need a space roughly the size of a mat, plus a device with a camera so your alignment can be corrected.

Can yoga help with stress, poor sleep or a stiff back?

Many students come to yoga for exactly these reasons, and pranayama, yoga nidra and gentle Hatha practice are traditionally used to support rest and mobility. Yoga is not a replacement for medical treatment — please tell Poonam about any injury or medical condition before you begin so the practice can be adapted safely, and consult your doctor for any medical concern.

What language are the classes taught in?

Classes are taught in English and Hindi. Sanskrit posture names are used alongside their English equivalents, so you learn the traditional terminology naturally.
